How we create our content
Last updated 2026-10-21
Pregnancy information should be accurate, kind and easy to act on. These are the standards behind every guide, week page and tool on prego.health and in the Prego app.
Who writes our content
Content is written and edited by the Prego team. Each page shows when it was last updated and keeps a history of changes, so you can see what changed and when.
Where our information comes from
We base our guidance on current recommendations from leading health organizations and on peer-reviewed research, including:
- The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG)
- The UK National Health Service (NHS) and NICE
- The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
- The World Health Organization (WHO)
- The US National Academies (for example, the pregnancy weight gain guidelines)
Every page lists the sources it draws on. Where guidance differs between countries, we say so and suggest following your own provider's advice.
Medical review
We are building a panel of qualified clinicians to review our content. When a page has been medically reviewed, it will show the reviewer's name, credentials and the date of review. Until then, our pages are checked against the sources listed on them.
How we write
- Plain language. We explain medical terms the first time we use them.
- No scare tactics. We describe what is common and normal, and are clear about the warning signs that need care.
- Safety first. Every health page says when to contact a doctor or midwife, and never replaces their advice.
- Inclusive. We write for every kind of family and every kind of pregnancy.
Tools and calculators
Our calculators use standard clinical methods, such as Naegele's rule for due dates and the National Academies ranges for weight gain. They give estimates, run entirely in your browser and never send what you enter to us.
Use of AI
We use AI tools to help us draft and illustrate content. Every page is checked against its sources before it is published, and our cover illustrations are made with AI image tools in the style of the Prego app.
Keeping content up to date
We review our pages regularly and whenever major guidance changes. When we update a page, we change its "Updated" date and add a line to its history of updates.
Independence
We don't run ads or accept payment to feature products. Prego earns money from app subscriptions only, so our content has one job: to help you.
Corrections
