IVF Due Date Calculator

IVF gives you an exact date to count from. Enter your transfer date and your embryo's age to see your due date and how far along you are.

How the IVF due date is calculated

A pregnancy lasts about 266 days from fertilization. With IVF, fertilization happens in the lab on the day of egg retrieval, so your due date is 266 days after retrieval. For a transfer, subtract the embryo's age: 261 days after a day 5 transfer, 263 days after a day 3 transfer and 260 days after a day 6 transfer.

Your weeks of pregnancy are still counted as if from a last period two weeks before fertilization, so on the day of a day 5 transfer you are already 2 weeks 5 days pregnant.

Frequently asked questions

How many weeks pregnant am I after a day 5 transfer?

On the day of a day 5 blastocyst transfer you are counted as 2 weeks and 5 days pregnant. Two weeks after transfer, around the time of your blood test, you are 4 weeks 5 days.

Is an IVF due date more accurate?

Yes. Because the date of fertilization is known exactly, IVF due dates are usually more precise than dates based on a last period, and your clinic is unlikely to change it after an ultrasound.

Does a frozen embryo transfer change the due date?

No. Use the date of the frozen transfer and the age the embryo was when it was frozen, for example day 5. The calculation is the same as a fresh transfer.

Estimates only. Your doctor or midwife may give you different dates or targets.
